ORGANISATIONS
In addition to the organisations and groups
profiled in this guide, there are a number of others who can
assist businesses to develop partnerships with schools. These
include:
Ministry of Education (MOE): Local
management centres have contact details for all schools in
your area. Nationally the MOE, Phone 04 463 8000 provides
start-up money each year to trial new initiatives in schools
and evaluates them for success. Some of these are now looking
for support from other partners to continue operation.
Careers Service: The Government department
with statutory responsibility to promote links between Education
and Enterprise. National office in Wellington ph 04 801 5177,
District offices - see local phone book
Programmes run by Professional Associations:
include Neighbourhood Engineers - Institute of Professional
Engineers New Zealand - Wellington, Firm/School Partnership
Programme - New Zealand Law Society - Wellington, plus Building
Research Association with Wellington schools.
Other valuable initiatives such
as the annual Telecom Information Technology Roadshow, various
Science and Technology competitions and holiday programmes,
Lampen Work Choice Day and the Coca Cola Careers Expo lie
outside the scope of this document.
